Film Description: An action packed fight between the forces of good and evil. The spiritual successor to the 2005 Star Wars fan film, Sabers. Film History: Sabers II entered production in January 2007 when Amy Tichy and I began to collaborate on the plot for the new film. Amy had interest in helping out with the sequel ever since the idea sprang up in 2006 and with her extensive knowledge in the Star Wars universe, she was a welcomed member to the project. Amy and I worked on several ideas, many of which were hard to execute due to the nature of the film. Because like the first Sabers, Sabers II was going to have no dialogue and all be told through the actions and emotions of the characters. After a rough idea was formed, auditions were held. Even though the auditions brought forth a number of actors, the project remained dormant for the next few months. In summer of 2007, Living Room Productions came to North Dakota to put on a play. The play, Robin Hood, was produced in hopes of big things. Amy got involved with the play and planned out a majority of the fight choreography. It turned out many of these cast members from the play were Star Wars fans. After that, everything just fell right into place. We had an eager cast of eight equipped with stage combat experience, a new plot constructed by Amy Tichy and a couple of her friends, a fight coordinator and a director/editor ready to film. Once filming was finished, the movie was in post-production for less than a year. I tried to recapture the feel of the first Sabers and at the same time expand upon it. Filters do play a big role in this movie but instead of going for color, like red for evil, I tried to make it more subtle. The fights are more complex and there is a story with mutiple subplots here. However, it make take a couple of play throughs to grasp everything that is going on due to the fast paced nature of the movie. For me, this movie is a big deal because Sabers has always been regarded as one of my best live action works. So, I feel there are a lot of eyes that will be watching this new film. I never set out to make the best Star Wars fan film ever (because such a mission would be foolish.) What I did set out to do is make a movie that exceeds the quality, direction and fun of Sabers. In my opinion, the Sabers II cast, crew and I succeeded in that mission.
