Batguy: Starts Production Notes- Day 2

I’m going to start playing catch up here guys. The past week I’ve been too busy to update the site with my production notes. Now that Batguy has finished production, I can finally jot down the events of each production day. So check back daily for new updates.

After a week long hiatus due to a blizzard (damn North Dakota), Batguy: Starts resumed production. On Wednesday, October 12th, Brandon Pelling and I (Chad Troftgruben) arrived at Larry Hesier Motors to film the used car parking lot scenes. This was most certainly fun, since Larry Hesier Motors is located by a busy street. I got a lot of strange looks standing in a full Batman uniform directing Brandon what shots I wanted.

Batguy (Chad Troftgruben) chases the Guy Signal to a used car parking lot.

Since the location was near a busy road, all of the voices will have to be dubbed over in post-production. Probably the most difficult part was remembering my lines when I am talking on the phone to The Prankster.Brandon did the lines of the Prankster (which was filmed at a later date as you’ll see in an upcoming update) and I had to react to the lines. What will happen in post-production is we’ll do a vertical split of the screen and have Batguy on the left side and the Prankster on the right. So you’ll be able to see both of them during the conversation.

Brandon substituted for the Prankster while Chad did Batguy’s lines. Later, the real Prankster (played by Justin Huber) will be added into the shot on the right side of the screen to show both sides of the conversation.

Filming went fairly quickly and finished in a half an hour. Brandon and I then went back to DSU and did some green screen tests, which went fairly well. Tomorrow things will be more interesting as I cover the Dog Woman and Duct Man scenes. See you then!
