Batguy: Starts Production Notes- Day 1

At 4:30 PM on Monday, October 3rd, Batguy: Starts officially entered production. Filming went very smoothly (aside from me forgetting some of my lines here and there) and it turns out Ken Haught makes the perfect Commissioner for this parody. His acting was very good for the part and not to mention he looks almost exactly like his comic book counterpart. Have a look:

Some minor green screening needed to be done for the beginning of the movie. The Commissioner’s work is disturbed when he hears a loud crash outside and a masked stranger lands on the ledge of the window. So, actually, this will turn out to be a green screen of a green screened scene because the shot of Batguy landing on the ledge will be shot on Friday in front of a green screen.

A green screen was placed in the window.

A green screen was placed in front of the window. This will obviously be dealt with in post-production.

There were actually multiple scenes shot during this session. We ran though all the scenes three separate times. The first time had both actors in frame. The second had all close ups of Batguy. And finally we concluded with close ups of the Commissioner. With the close ups of Batguy and the Commissioner, we also did reaction shots.

Batguy gets a personal phone call.

Batguy (Chad Troftgruben) deals with a crank phone call and apparently his overly poofy hair.

So, overall it was a very successful and fun filming session. Brandon Pelling and Scott Rojic were there to film and do stage work and did a great job. Thanks to all who participated! We will resume filming on Wednesday, October 5th. For more details on Wednesday’s shooting, check out the calendar. When filming concludes, information will be posted.
