Time is in the Wind, the tentatively titled documentary on Dr. Michael Taylor's life, started production yesterday afternoon.  Dr. Taylor is currently an assistant professor of history at Dickinson State University and the movie is set to cover everything from his childhood, to his time spent at DSU and ultimately the circumstances that lead up to the dismissal from his job. 

There are several reasons why I wanted to do this film.  One reason is I have never done a documentary before.  Actually, to my knowledge, no one involved in the DSU Filmmakers or Lilredhead Studios has pursued to do a documentary and so I thought it was time to take a stab at the genre.  Dr. Taylor, as I continue to discover, has lived a very full and interesting life.   This man has seemingly done it all, from being apart of a popular band, to producing an award winning radio show, to inspiring and motivating several students with his interpretations and lectures.  The movie will remind current students of what he has accomplished and introduce a new generation of students to Dr. Taylor as well.

The big issue many DSU students will probably be interested in is the controversial nature of how Dr. Taylor was dismissed from his job.  There have been several stories and rumors as to why this occurred and the movie will allow for the record to be set straight.  Along with Dr. Taylor, I hope to interview several other people to create a fair and unbiased account of what happened.

I recognize this movie will end up being a challenge.  However, after only a couple hours of interviews, the project is already proving to be a lot of fun.  Dr. Taylor is a very well spoken individual, which makes his stories even more interesting.  Once everything is done and put together, I'm sure this will be a worthwhile film everyone will want to check out.
