Film Description: Everyone knows the story of A Christmas Carol. But you’ve never seen it like this before! From the minds of Chad Troftgruben and Josh Nichols comes Scrooge. The movie is set to loosely follow the Charles Dickens’ classic while adding a comedic twist. Film History: The idea of Scrooge sprang to life during the first official meeting of the DSU Filmmakers. The movie seemed like a great idea. Coming from the minds of Chad Troftgruben and Josh Nichols, the movie didn’t seem to have any limits to how great it could be. However, during production, reality set in. The crew got a week in Stickney Auditorium (located at Dickinson State University) to film all of the city scenes for the movie. But first, let’s back up. Before filming began, the crew (consisting of only Chad Troftgruben, Josh Nichols and Brandon Pelling) had to create this city set in three days. Doesn’t seem like a problem, right? Well, with no experience at all in theater or scene construction, it can turn into a big problem. However, the three guys (with help from Josh’s sister) worked through three days of Christmas break to complete the city set with pretty good success. With the set ready, and the script finalized, the movie was ready to be made. However, after holding auditions and giving out the parts, only half the actors showed up. We never found out why this was, perhaps these actors just had a change of heart. With limited actors and time, production started to become rushed. Sacrifices to the script were made, scenes were cut, and the crew spent the rest of their Christmas vacation working on the damaged movie. Once the crew had to leave Stickney Auditorium, production was picked up in another area. However, with the movie already a jumbled mess, and the new location being less then adequate, Chad Troftgruben made the controversial decision of pulling the plug on the project.
