Film Description: Three bounty hunters are given a chance to make some cash when a man from the military offers them a job. What is that job you ask? To hunt down aliens, of course! The result is an adventure none of them will ever forget. Film History: Butterflies is actually a remake of a remake. First, Aliens- Chapter 1: The War Begins was made. Then Zach Tibor, Justin Huber and I (Chad Troftgruben) tried to remake it. The result was Domination: Planet Earth. We all acknowledged Domination sucked the ultimate ass, so then a couple months later we made Butterflies. Butterflies is a remake of Domination, but with a comedic twist. We basically decided to make a parody of a movie we made. The night before we decided to make this movie, Zach and I were on the phone for hours brainstorming ideas. The focal point of these ideas was incorporating a song into the movie entitled “Now You’re a Man” by DVDA. Other ideas such as killer butterflies being the main enemy came into the mix. On the day of shooting, perhaps 25% of the ideas we brainstormed made it into the movie. When filming, we all froze our asses off. It was very cold that day (beginning of February). However, it all paid off. The movie is actually very funny and exhibits all of our insanity (well, except for poor Justin, all he ever got to do was dance the entire movie). The one thing I loved about this movie was downplaying me as the hero. In Aliens-: Chapter 1: The War Begins and Domination: Planet Earth, I always sacrificed myself to save humanity. Well, in Butterflies, I was thrown into a trunk, ditched by my comrade, and overall just bashed through the entire movie. But of course, for many, the highlight of the movie is the montage of the heroes driving to the shelter belt with “Now You’re a Man” playing in the background. Another scene worth mentioning is when Nate Kostelecky gets killed and Justin and Zach begin to flashback to memories of Nate. This was all added into post-production and proved to be an excellent sequence, even if Nate began to cry as he watched himself as an 11 year old running around. Even over three years later this movie can still provide a good laugh. It stands the test of time, even if its execution is a little sloppy.
